| PLO Official Says Israel Wants to Divide Al-Aqsa Mosque JERUSALEM, December 9, 2013 (WAFA) – Member of the executive committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), Ahmad Qurei, said Monday that the Israeli government announcement that it needs approval from the Jewish rabbinate to organize Jewish prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem will endanger the sanctity of the Muslim holy place. Qurei, former prime minister and speaker of the parliament, said in a statement that these “aggressive, racist procedures are conceived as a real danger to al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem.” He warned of bad consequences on the holy place in case these procedures are passed. “The Israeli authorities continue their violations, settlements and infringement on Al-Aqsa by allowing Jewish settlers and fanatics to desecrate it in order to enact racial laws to present them to the parliament with a goal to divide the mosque,” he said.
