Farmers Ordered to Uproot their Olive Trees
JENIN, November 9, 2013 (WAFA) – The Israeli military ordered dozens of farmers in the Jenin area town of Yabad to uproot their olive trees planted along the road linking Jenin to Tulkarm, mayor of Yabad, Samer Abu Baker, said Saturday.
He told WAFA that the military posted the order on the trees located near the settlement of Mapo Dotan, built illegally on Yabad land. The order affects an estimated 70 landowners, he said.
Abu Baker considered the order very dangerous saying it is an attempt to take away the main source of income for farmers in Yabad through destroying their olive groves.
