Azzun Village demonstrates against occupation and the Wall, but also for the reactivation of the PLO

Qalqilia / PNN – A massive march against the Wall got underway this morning in Qalqilia’s Azzun Village.

Qalqilia is among the governorates most noticeably devastated by the Wall in the West Bank – it is encircled.

The Palestinian People’s Party sponsored the nonviolent action Friday that included official and popular personalities along with delegations of international solidarity activists.

The collective call in Azzun was to stop the occupation, establishing an independent Palestinian state and to end the internal division along with reactivating the PLO. Giving impetus to the struggle of popular resistance was also on the call list.

A crowd of leftists gathered from the PPP along with friends of the town and several speeches were delivered at the foot of the Wall.

Palestinian People’s Party Central Committee members spoke the importance of popular resistance to the public and national resistance movements. They, along with other leftist parties, again called for the reactivation of the Palestine Liberation Organization as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.

The PLO is seen as less single party-driven than the Palestinian Authority, controlled by Fateh, and the Hamas government.
