| World Cup champion Ronaldo, 32, will play himself in several dream sequences in the Iranian film. It tells the story of Alneyrab, who wanted to meet the soccer player when he came to the Middle East on a humanitarian mission in 2005. The girl was later killed when she stepped on a land mine in southern Lebanon. The Brazilian star's manager, Fabiano Farah, said that Ronaldo has signed an initial contract for the film, which doesn’t yet have a title. The three-time World Player of the Year still needs permission from his soccer club, Corinthians, to finalize the deal. Corinthians is set to play against fellow Brazilians Fluminense in the Palestinian Territories this September, which would correspond to the film shoot in Lebanon. Sources have not confirmed how much Ronaldo will be paid for taking part in the film, which he called a “humanitarian” production. He previously visited the West Bank and Jerusalem as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for the global campaign against poverty in May 2005. |
