Sunday’s attack was in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood where hundreds of Palestinians are being forcibly evicted from their homes and replaced by settlers. Eyewitnesses report that a group of Jewish settlers attacked a solidarity tent in the neighborhood while Israeli police and border guards looked on. Witnesses told reporters that the extremists had “tried to provoke the feelings of the citizens who are grieving the loss of their homes, homeland and livelihoods.” Settlers used verbal abuse and pelted them with objects, all in plain view of the occupying police and border guards in the area.
