British Trade Union passes resolution to boycott Israeli products

British citizens protest the Israeli war on Gaza [MaanImages]Bethlehem - Ma’an - Pending a negotiated settlement based on justice for Palestinians the British trade unions (TUC) passed a resolution voting to boycott all Israeli products.

The motion was passed Thursday morning at the Annual Congress in Liverpool. The union, which represents 6.5 million workers, will boycott, and divest from any involvement with Israeli companies.

According to reports from the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, the motion also called for the TUC General Council to “put pressure on the British government to end all arms trading with Israel and support moves to suspend the EU-Israel trade agreement.”

A British high court recently quashed a case seeking the government justify and explain its continued sale of arms to Israel.

Both the boycott and arms case came as a response to the Israeli war on Gaza that killed at least 1,400 Gazans during December and January.
