| Reactions from Palestinians in the Knesset after Israelis attack Al Aqsa: planned provocation |

| Jerusalem / PNN – Palestinian member of the Israeli Knesset Masoud Ghanayem described Sunday’s attack on Al Aqsa Mosque as a declaration of war against all Arabs and Muslims in the world. The MK of the United Arab List said, “What happened today on the eve of Yom Kippur is only evidence of police collusion with these extremist groups.” He described the current climate as one of the most racist and religious the Israeli state has ever seen. Ghanayem said, “The Al Aqsa Mosque is sacred for Arabs and Muslims, it is their right. Every attempt by Jewish groups to desecrate that will only strengthen the insistence to hold on to the right.” He went on to say, “We recall the actions of the political establishment and the Israeli military. We are on the eve of the ninth anniversary of the Intifada, the Al Aqsa Intifada, where the blood of the Arab masses was spilled defending Al Aqsa Mosque. Today they are ready to sacrifice defending the dignity of Al Aqsa Mosque.” Deputy Mohamed Barakeh, Chairman of the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality in the Knesset, warned of attempts by the Israeli government to escalate its tactics of evasion. Instead of accepting the negotiating process that is expected, the Israeli government is seeking to create a new type of war. “This is what can be inferred from the deadly serious assault on the Haram Al Sharif on Sunday, and the injury of a high number of Palestinians inside.” In a statement issued today, Barakeh noted that the attack on the Al Aqsa Mosque courtyards was planned for this day, was not accidental. “The security services, led by the ruling establishment, know very well, the sensitivity to the sanctity of the place, as experience has taught. They planned to provoke a bloody and dangerous escalation from this very spot.” |
