| Ramallah / PNN – Israeli settlers in the West Bank are becoming increasingly dangerous leading to enhanced fears of increased attacks during olive harvest season, says Agricultural Relief upon receiving a statement. With the support of the Israeli army and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, settlers are moving forward with their criminal activities that include destruction and confiscation of trees and other agriculture, burning of buildings and fields, and attacks on people and their property.
In a statement issued by the settlers’ movement a few days ago and distributed near West Bank cities, the Israeli extremists say they will escalate their attacks and plan to steal the fruits of the Palestinian olive trees. “Up for grabs”, they say, are olive groves that the settlements and Wall have been built near. The statement included a call for all settlers to use all means and methods to prevent Palestinians from reaching their vineyards to pick fruit. Furthermore, the settlers say they intend to openly incite against the international solidarity groups that accompany the Palestinian farmers; that includes the Israeli Peace Now movement that supports Palestinians in the West Bank. Settlers are being called upon to steal the cameras from solidarity and peace activists so that nothing will be documented. This statement comes at a time when political and diplomatic battles are ongoing and the issue of settlements is at the forefront. All settlements exist in contravention to international law and in order to honor the law, the Israelis must remove them all. Instead, settlement construction on Palestinian lands is not freezing, not even for a month. | ||
