| Jerusalem / PNN - The Edward Said National Conservatory of Music recently signed a cooperation agreement with the Royal Academy of Music in the city of Arhus, Denmark. The program is in conjunction with the Eastern Music Ensemble of the institute that is performing as part of a cultural week. Directors at the National Institute in Jerusalem said today that they seek to upgrade the artistic form through several projects, including the exchange program. Their Danish counterparts are looking to enriching the musical movement of Palestine, in addition to possibly securing scholarships for Palestinian students in Denmark. Professors specializing in Western Jazz are part of the project to train Palestinian students, with the possibility of sending students to Denmark for a week-long piano studies course later this year. A crowd of Danes heard the revival of the Eastern Music Ensemble earlier this week with a performance of Middle Eastern flavor as part of Palestinian cultural week in Denmark. The band played tracks from the eastern Arabian tradition. Suhail Khoury was on flute, Ahmed Al Khatib on the oud, and Joseph Hubaysh on percussion. |
