Ma'an News Agency (Palestine) : "PFLP demands Abbas apologize for "Goldstone sin""

PFLP demands Abbas apologize for "Goldstone sin"
Published yesterday (updated) 06/10/2009 22:45

Gaza – Ma’an – The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine demanded President Mahmoud Abbas apologize to the Palestinian people Tuesday for what the party called the “sin” of deferring the vote of the Goldstone report.

Member if the central committee of the PFLP Kayid Al-Ghoul said in a statement the apology was a “necessary step” to clear the way for the Abbas-mandated investigations committee. He said a clear path must be made for the investigation, because Palestinians have the right to know why they were not supported.

Al-Ghoul stressed the need for Abbas’ government to continue follow-up and call UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon to request that the Goldstone commission report be put in front of the UN Security Council. He also called on Palestinian leaders to go to international prosecutors and seek the prosecution of Israeli war criminals.

The PFLP representative said the party was prepared to separate Abbas’ worn on the Goldstone commission report and the issue of Palestinian unity, noting “any postponement of this dialogue means prolonging the division” and adding that an end to division could only strengthen Palestinian calls for an investigation into what happened with the Goldstone report at the Human Rights Council.
