Theater working to open first Palestinian drama school produces puppet show aimed at youth

Bethlehem / PNN – The Al Harah Theater and the Palestine & the Lebanese Puppet Theater (Khayal), in Cooperation with the National Performing Arts Centre, have issued an invitation to a show in the West Bank.

"I have a Dream" with puppets is opening Thursday evening at 9:30 pm. The show, directed by Karim Dakroub, is directed to young people over 14 years of age.
 
Actors Fuad Hindiyeh, Hind Nasser, Riham Isaac, Sami Al Metwasi are working in the show that performs in the Ramadan evenings. The players are also the play-writes.

Set Production is done by Isam Rishmawi, video by Nehmeh Nehmeh, and Production Management by Marina Barham.

Barham is the General Director of Beit Jala’s Al Harah Theater, just up the hill from Bethlehem city. The theater opened in 2005.
 
Producers at Al Harah, meaning “the neighborhood” in English, say they aim to produce theater that is well crafted yet moving, challenging yet accessible and, essentially, honest. “We believe that theatre that has the potential to change the lives of those who make it and those who watch it. Our mission is to promote a high dramatic standard whilst remaining accessible, and through both our performances and our educational work we hope to bring compelling stories, in one of the last uncensored spaces, to audiences throughout Palestine, the Arab world and beyond.”

The Al Harah Theater is also working toward creating Palestine’s fist school of the dramatic arts.
