Israel shells Lebanon following rocket strike; no injuries

Bethlehem – Ma’an – Two Katyusha rockets landed in the northern Israeli city of Nahariya, near the border with Lebanon on Friday afternoon, and Israeli forces responded by firing 15 artillery shells at what they said was the source of the fire, across the border in Lebanon.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon condemned the Lebanese act, but not the Israeli retaliation, but called on both sides to show restraint. The incident came one day after the resignation of Lebanon's Prime Minister designate Saad Hariri, who was unable to form a national unity government following a 7 June election. The party with the second largest number of seats was Hizbullah.
No claim has been made on the firing of the rockets, with analysts speculating involvement of Palestinian factions.
The devices landed in an open area in Israel, and Israeli sources said they believed they were fired from Al-Qalila village in southern Lebanon. Israeli fire at the area of the village resulted in no injuries or damages.
The military spokesperson said Israel views the Lebanese government and military as "accountable for preventing such attacks."
The last cross-border incident on the Lebanon-Israel border was on 22 February, when a rocket from Lebanon injured an Israeli woman. Israeli forces also responded by shelling Lebanon in that incident.
