Four films reflect the realities of Palestinian women: documentary screening in Ramallah

Ramallah / PNN – Four Palestinian documentaries are screening in Ramallah early next month. Produced in collaboration with the European Union, the films were translated into English and reflect the reality of Palestinian women.

The documentaries vary in content and in artistic vision and method. The director of the Screens project said that the women’s films were done with a high level of professionalism that reflects the realities and aspirations of women with boldly creative artistry.
 
Palestine and Morocco won EU support for the project with collaboration in film production and local media that support the rights of women.

Director Ghaida Terawi made a film about women who have been subjected to sexual abuse, “but who were too weak to cry out or rebel against their painful reality.”

Sawsun Kaoud’s documentary focuses on three women who, desperate from poverty, sit on the street to sell produce.

Samia Barakat’s film addresses education in Jerusalem and the perseverance and strength of character of women.

Filmmaker Dima Abu Ghosh explores adolescence in her film.

“The path of the film projects in Palestine is remarkable, and provides an excellent opportunity to show a positive image of Palestinian women, and at the same time the challenges facing them,” the Information Officer in the European Union commented today.

While each film has a different vision, watching the four together they come together as a mirror on the scene that is consistent with the reality of Palestinian women.

And draws a different vision for each film, but when you look at the four films from the perspective of the mirror on the Palestinian scene can be consistent artistic vision of the reality of Palestinian women.

The opening will be held in early October at the Cultural Palace in Ramallah. Further screenings are planned throughout the month in collaboration with nine Palestinian universities and seven local television stations.
